As our daydream continues, we find a soot-covered Mr. Choi giving a “concerned parent” lecture to Jae Chan and Hong Ju. He scolds Jae Chan for ignoring the rules about personal safety once again, in spite of the fact that his own hand is badly injured. The ambulance arrives and Jae Chan and Hong Ju argue about who Mr. Choi should ride to the hospital with. Ultimately, it is Jae Chan who draws the lucky straw and has Mr. Choi with him as he is transported to the hospital. It is a special moment between the two men.
The next morning, Hong Ju comes over to Jae Chan’s house. Seung Won invites her in just as Jae Chan is exiting the bathroom complaining about the black soot filled snot that keeps coming out of his nose. This scene is a kind of payback for Hong Ju’s hairy leg bathroom exit in an earlier episode. Jae Chan owns the moment and plays it completely cool. Of course, behind closed doors, he beats himself up for exposing yet another one of his many flaws. Once he is dressed, he returns to find his brother throwing him under the bus again to Hong Ju. This time, Hong Ju plays it cool and says she is not turned off by Jae Chan’s grossness and even confesses that she too has soot coming out of her nose. She adds that Jae Chan is even sexier when he is just out of the shower. Jae Chan makes his presence known by boldly striding into the room and stepping squarely on top of Seung Won’s foot. When Seung Won retreats to take a shower, Jae Chan makes Hong Ju promise that she will tell him about all of her dreams, even the dangerous ones. She promises that she will and assures him that she hasn’t had the “rainy night/death dream” in a while.
At the news station, Hong Ju discusses the information found on the USB that was given to Jae Chan. The same discussion is going on at the prosecutor’s office. There appear to be eight more victims unaccounted for because they died after the suspect was arrested. Mr. Park urges caution since it is a reinvestigation of the case. At the news station, Hong Ju and Du Hyun are pulled from all other stories to focus on the reinvestigation of the I.V. drip serial killer case. At the prosecutor’s office, Mr. Park removes Jae Chan from the case and forbids him from investigating on his own since he is possibly a victim because of the fire. Once the meeting breaks up, Ji Gwang pulls Jae Chan aside and tells him that there is the chance that Mr. Choi could be implicated in evidence tampering during the course of the investigation. It is not news that Jae Chan is happy to hear.
Jae Chan and Ji Gwang load all of the case files into Ji Gwang’s “arrest me red” car. Jae Chan jumps in the driver’s seat, which gives Ji Gwang the chance to send lovey-dovey texts to his mystery girlfriend. Once they arrive with the records, the two men argue about where they should be placed. Ji Gwang insists that all the files should go to his office. To make his point, he tells Jae Chan that Mr. Choi’s presence makes Jae Chan’s office off limits. Unfortunately, Mr. Choi happens upon the disagreement and hears every word. After looking very hurt, he steps up to Jae Chan and tells him that Ji Gwang is correct. He plays by the rules and I am hopeful that this will be his saving grace.
The next morning, the breakfast club meets at Hong Ju’s house. They discuss the ongoing investigation and how they hate what might happen to Mr. Choi. Woo Tak interjects and asks Jae Chan how he can be so sure about Mr. Choi and reminds him that Jae Chan said the same thing about Hak Young. Jae Chan knows that Woo Tak is right. After breakfast, Jae Chan and Woo Tak discuss the matter further. Woo Tak points out that Mr. Choi arrived at the fire without a solid reason for being there. Hong Ju joins the conversation and points out that Mr. Choi knew that she had arrived separately from Jae Chan. Jae Chan admits to Hong Ju that he knows that Woo Tak is right. His head knows that he needs to be objective and investigate every possibility but his heart doesn’t want to hurt Mr. Choi.
At the prosecutor’s office, Jae Chan is still throwing a bit of a tantrum in defense of Mr. Choi. He refuses to communicate directly with Ji Gwang, choosing to use a clerk as a go-between, even though Ji Gwang is in the same room and can hear every word he is saying. Jung Ha arrives and asks Ji Gwang to join Woo Joo in the observation room. She is lining up arson suspects and needs a backup. What she really needs is another suspect and soon we see Ji Gwang, in his long wig again, standing in the line up of suspects. It is a role he enjoys and he attacks it with enthusiasm. The witness immediately identifies Ji Gwang as the man he saw peddling away from the scene of the fire that night. He sites Ji Gwang’s teeth as a feature he remembers well. When Woo Joo points out that his earlier testimony described a man wearing a mask, the man changes his choice to one of the other suspects. In truth, he cannot accurately identify any of the suspects as the person he saw fleeing the scene.
Hee Min and an associate go looking for the gas station where the gasoline was purchased. Apparently, if you aren’t putting the gasoline in your car, you are required to register your purchase with the attendant. As Yu Beom arrives at his office, he receives a mysterious text that makes it clear that he is being watched.
That evening, Hong Ju walks into Dae Gu’s convenience store. He immediately recognizes Hong Ju as the relentless reporter that shouted questions at his father as he was led away to prison in handcuffs. He explains to her how he knows her. As he does, Hong Ju spots the green umbrella behind the counter. She begins to back away as Dae Gu expresses his frustration. Jae Chan suddenly appears by Hong Ju’s side and explains to Dae Gu that the prosecutor’s office is reinvestigating his father’s case. He gives Dae Gu his phone number and tells him to contact him anytime he wants to talk about the case. Once they arrive home, Hong Ju hugs Jae Chan and thank him for showing up just in time to rescue her.
Another day and another mystery text for Yu Beom. The texts almost have a jealous tone as they talk about his car and his position as a prosecutor. The texts also take credit for Yu Beom’s position at the prosecutor’s office and accuse him of manipulating evidence to get where he is. When he finally gets to his office, his secretary tells him that there is someone waiting for him. To his relief, it is Hong Ju.
Hong Ju confronts Yu Beom about evidence being leaked to the media. When Yu Beom denies that it is happening, Hong Ju asks why a prosecutor would do such a thing. Yu Beom says that perhaps the case is not strong enough and they are hoping that the media will be able to help with the case. As they talk, Dae Gu watches from behind half-opened blinds. He is there to return Yu Beom’s green umbrella to him. Hong Ju wonders aloud if Yu Beom leaked information during the Myung Yi Suk I.V. drip serial killer case. The statement causes Yu Beom to temporarily freeze. Hong Ju realizes that at first, she believed that Yu Beom gave her the information because he liked her but now she knows that it was a calculated move on his part. She tells Yu Beom that the news station is reinvestigating the case since it appears that Myung Yi Suk may not have been the killer. She says that she will release articles after she has listened to both sides of the case. She offers her ear should Yu Beom feel it necessary to talk to her about it. As she leaves, Yu Beom begins to sweat in his silk suit knowing that if the truth is revealed, he is ruined.
Back at Ji Gwang’s office, he and Jae Chan discuss the evidence in the I.V. serial killer case. There were vials that were the most incriminating evidence and eventually sealed the fate of Dae Gu’s father. When Ji Gwang mentions that Myung Yi Suk maintained his innocence until the very end and claimed that the prosecutor manipulated the evidence. When Ji Gwang uses the word “manipulated” Jae Chan is taken back to the incident with his grades. Yu Beom had talked a good game then and even made it sound easy. Ji Gwang is also remembering a time when he and Yu Beom briefly discussed the manipulation of evidence. It almost seemed like he was bragging. Jae Chan asks who collected the evidence. It was Mr. Choi. If the evidence were tampered with, it would be either Mr. Choi or Yu Beom who had the best chance to do it. Jae Chan leaves the office and when he does, Ji Gwang asks the clerk to bring him a copy of Mr. Choi’s personal records.
Yu Beom receives more texts from the mystery man. He tells Yu Beom that if he is caught, he will have to reveal Yu Beom’s manipulation of the evidence. They arrange to meet later that night at nine in Yu Beom’s office. Meanwhile, Jae Chan is back in his office asking Mr. Choi a few questions. Mr. Choi is evasive, to say the least, and writes off his knowledge of Hong Ju and Jae Chan’s whereabouts as mere coincidence. JUST TELL JAE CHAN THAT YOU DREAMED ABOUT IT SILLY!!
At the police station, Hong Ju arrives to collect her power pack from Woo Tak. He returns the item to her and she accepts it, calling it her “red” power pack when we can clearly see that it is green. Hong Ju does not tell Woo Tak that she knows his secret. She asks Woo Tak about the cell phone thieves that were caught earlier in the week. Woo Tak tells her that he found it strange that a man with $10,000 would dress so poorly. He also noticed that the pouch the money was carried in was decidedly feminine, like a purse. Meanwhile, Hee Min and her associate have tracked down the gasoline purchace after an exhaustive search. When they question the attnedant, they learn that the person who bought the gas was a woman.
At Yu Beom’s office, the mystery texter arrives. It is a woman. Her name is Ha Ju Won, a former patient in the ward where I.V. killers victims all died. She confesses to Yu Beom that she is the killer of twenty people and she thanks Yu Beom for making someone else take the blame. She explains that she killed the other patients because her own diagnosis was so unfair. She was also annoyed when patients and their families would say encouraging things to her without knowing anything about her condition. Basically, she’s a psychopath.
In Mr. Park’s office, Ha Ju Wan’s name has surfaced. It seems that she has been on the run for over a year and is quite difficult to locate since she only uses burner phones and doesn’t have a permanent address. At Yu Beom’s office, Ha Ju Wan points out to him that it would be useless to try to prosecute her since the families have already gone through one trial and a second one would only make their pain worse. She is also sure that when Dae Gu learns that his father died an innocent man, he will go mad. She promises that she will reveal Yu Beom’s manipulation of the evidence and destroy him before she goes to jail. She also confesses to the container fire and the killing of her bag man. She means to reassure Yu Beom that there are only two people in the whole world that know about his manipulation of the evidence. Unfortunately, Yu Beom tells her that there is actually a third person who knows their secret.
At lunch, Mr. Choi and Hyang Mi overhear some of their co-workers talking about the I.V. serial killer case. The talk turns to manipulation and Mr. Choi’s name is brought into the mix. After lunch, Mr. Choi returns to the office alone and begins to write a letter. At the news station, Hong Ju receives a text from Yu Beom offering an interview. He arranges to meet with her around eight that evening. Before she leaves the office, she asks Du Hyun if it will rain. He tells her there is only a 5% chance. At Ji Gwang’s office, the clerk returns with Mr. Choi’s personal records. She offers them to the figure crouched in front of a pile of boxes but when he turns around we see that it is Jae Chan. He asks the clerk who ordered Mr. Choi’s records but then answers the question himself. Of course, it was Ji Gwang who ordered them. Just then Ji Gwang comes back to his office and begins to protest his right to order whatever records he wants. Jae Chan has fallen temporarily silent. A cursory glance at Mr. Choi’s records reveals that he was once a policeman in the same location as Jae Chan’s father.
The light goes on for Jae Chan and he rushes back to his office to confirm his suspicions. When he arrives, he finds Hyang Mi at her desk in tears. Mr. Choi has resigned and left a letter on Jae Chan’s desk. In the letter, he proclaims his innocence and acknowledges that Yu Beom will also proclaim innocence. Regardless of what either of them says, he encourages Jae Chan to investigate the case fairly and to leave any consideration for him out of the investigation. He promises that he will prove his own innocence his own way. Jae Chan immediately tries to contact Mr. Choi and when he is unsuccessful, he tells Hyang Mi to act as if Mr. Choi did not resign and to keep their secret quiet for now. He sends a text message to Mr. Choi informing him that he will be waiting for his return to the office. Meanwhile, Mr. Choi has lunch with Yu Beom.
Later that evening, Yu Beom makes coffee in preparation for Hong Ju’s arrival. When she calls to let him know that she is on her way up to his office, he drops a little pill into her coffee cup. When she gets to his office, he encourages her to have a seat and enjoy a cup of coffee before their interview will begin. As she drinks the coffee, it begins to rain.
Jae Chan dreams of Hong Ju’s attack. He dreams about the rain and Hong Ju lying motionless while someone injects her with poison. Jae Chan rushes from his office and heads towards Yu Beom’s office. He calls Woo Tak and tells him what is going to happen and where. Both men rush to save Hong Ju from Yu Beom’s evil plan. Back in Yu Beom’s office, Hong Ju sits slumped over in her chair while Yu Beom and Ha Ju Wan look at her without a shred of remorse. Soon, Yu Beom is carrying Hong Ju’s limp form up to the rooftop garden while Ha Ju Wan follows with the large green umbrella, covering all of them from the rain.
Yu Beom places Hong Ju on the ground and steps away from her. For a moment, we see some hesitation in Yu Beom’s eyes and we wonder if he has the audacity to see this through to the end. The rain soaks Hong Ju from head to toe but she doesn’t move. The powerful drug has rendered her helpless to react. Will Jae Chan and Woo Tak be able to save her in time?
