As our daydream continues, Gook Du finds himself in a car chase with the Creeper. Gook Du is forced to shoot the criminal when he refuses to get out of his vehicle. The Creeper gunned his engine and tried to run Gook Du down. The chase doesn’t last long and with a slug in his shoulder, the Creeper isn’t able to steer his vehicle on the twisting roads. His car breaks through a guardrail and plunges into the water below. It is not the outcome Gook Du wanted and the thought that someone, even a Creeper like Jang Hyun, died as a result of his actions weighs heavily on him. Later, police and divers are scouring the area where the car took its fatal plunge. Gook Du sits at the water’s edge staring into the blackness. He receives a message from Min Hyuk. He will take Bong Soon while Gook Du wraps up his investigation.
Min Hyuk takes Bong Soon to his house to rest. As she sleeps peacefully on the couch, Min Hyuk calls her father to let the family know that Bong Soon is safe. Bong Soon’s father tells Min Hyuk that he trusts him and it is clear that Min Hyuk is touched by the information. At Bong Soon’s house, Bong Ki and his father have a beer and chat. Bong Ki says that he began to study medicine because he wanted to know why his family was going through so many difficulties because of the special abilities of the women in the family. Back at Min Hyuk’s, Bong Soon wakes to find Min Hyuk’s sleeping face very near hers. She moves to touch his face but then stop and tries to get off the couch. Min Hyuk pulls her back down into his arms. He tells her that she is a “tiny peanut” that he can keep in his heart but he feels like he is not in her heart. He confesses his love for her and she reciprocates. He pulls her closer into a warm sleepy embrace.
The next morning, Bong Soon’s mother finds her bed empty and immediately assumes that Bong Soon and Min Hyuk have finally gotten busy. Her phone rings and it is Kyung Shim. Bong Soon’s mother is oblivious to the recent goings on and is surprised to hear Kyung Shim crying. At Min Hyuk’s, Bong Soon tries to tear open an apple with her bare hands. When she is unsuccessful, Min Hyuk cuts the apple in pieces and makes fresh apple juice for her, all the while complaining that she doesn’t listen to a word he says. Kyung Shim finally arrives at Bong Soon’s house. Mother and father fawn over her and insist that she eat something. Kyung Shim explains why Bong Soon’s parents were the last to know what was going on. The Creeper had threatened her mother into silence.
Min Hyuk brings Bong Soon home. The moment she sees Kyung Shim, the waterworks begin for both of the girls. They talk about what they have been through and Bong Soon confesses that she has lost her power. She admits that it was what she wished for but now that it has happened, she feels strange. She is grateful to have saved her friend in spite of what it cost her. Kyung Shim is eager to go home to Busan and soon detectives will arrive to take her there personally. She knows that mother is preparing food for her and Bong Soon also feels that she should at least eat before she goes. At the dinner table, Bong Soon’s mother chastises her for not letting the family know what was going on. After a few slaps to the shoulder, Bong Soon gets up from the table to distance herself from her angry mother. When she does, Kyung Shim quietly tells everyone that Bong Soon has lost her power. The family is stunned into silence.
Later, after Bong Soon sees Kyung Shim off, her mother sits her down for a chat. They talk about when she lost her power and how she dealt with it. She also explains to Bong Soon why she was always taking care of Bong Ki and gave little thought to Bong Soon. Since the women in the family have all the power, the men tend to be weaker. She remembers that Bong Ki was always a sickly child and needed more attention than Bong Soon. She tells her that since things are different now, that she will look after Bong Soon as well. She tells Bong Soon to do her best to go about her daily life. She assures her daughter that getting used to her power being gone will get easier with time. As Bong Soon goes about her day, she reminds herself of all the things she can no longer do. She tells herself that she is no longer “special” and that she will just have to learn to live with it.
Bong Soon arrives at the office and decides to follow her mother’s advice. She plans on pretending that everything is ok. She takes a deep breath and tries to throw herself back into her game project. She stares at the game character for a long moment and then remembers the necklace that Min Hyuk gave her. She wonders if perhaps she should give the character a necklace too. She receives a message from Min Hyuk. He has gone to the hospital to check on the security guard that was injured. Min Hyuk assures her that the man that was used as a Creeper decoy will be alright. Out in the hallway, Mr. Fancy Pants is trying to get sympathy from Secretary Gong when he catches a glimpse of Bong Soon out of the corner of his eye. He chases after her and ends up dragging her into the break room. He demands that she bring ten boxes of A4 paper to his office again. When she complies, he runs to get Secretary Gong and Min Hyuk to witness her superhuman strength. When he finds her lifting individual boxes with difficulty he begins to throw a fit and accuses her of playing coy. Secretary Gong has had enough and he whips back his hand as if he is going to smack Mr. Fancy Pants in the face. Meanwhile, Min Hyuk grabs Bong Soon’s hand and leads her out of the break room and into the courtyard outside. He asks her if she is alright and she admits that she isn’t but that she is aware that it will get better. He offers that from now on he can do the heavy lifting and jar opening for her. He calls himself “brother” and she initially bristles at the idea. Since they are the same age, she reasons, there is no reason to call him that. He accuses Gook Du of revealing his age to her but then she admits that she was only bluffing. Once she establishes that they are indeed the same age, she suggests that they speak informally to one another. Min Hyuk is incredulous at the idea and when she begins to address him in an informal manner, it is his turn to bristle. It turns into a cute game as she skips through the courtyard with Min Hyuk not far behind.
Boss Tak and the boys celebrate their good fortune now that the real estate deal is final. One of the boys receives a call from the strange monk. He wants to go to the public bath house with Boss Tak and his boys. Boss Tak agrees to the outing. He asks about Mr. Front Teeth and is informed that he is still in the hospital. Boss Tak suggests that perhaps he needs some of the poop wine in order to heal more quickly. At the walnut shop, Bong Soon’s mother and her friends complain about the development project. They are surprised that it was pushed through in spite of all of the forms and petitions they filed. Gook Du’s mother arrives to buy some walnut for porridge and expresses worry for her son. It seems he doesn’t have much of an appetite lately, which is concerning. Bong Soon’s mother decides that now is a good time to pitch a jealous fit and she informs Gook Du’s mother that she will not sell her any walnuts. Mr. Do steps in and finally stands up to his wife. He proclaims that the shop is his and he can sell who he wants to. His vibrato doesn’t last for long when Bong Soon’s mother advances on him and Gook Du’s mother.
At Min Hyuk’s office, he is showing Bong Soon how to tweak one of her game characters to make him recognizable as a villain. Once his eyebrows are adjusted, the character takes on a very familiar appearance. He looks exactly like Secretary Gong! At the bath house, Boss Tak and his boys talk about Bong Soon and her rumored relationship with Min Hyuk. The strange monk pops out of nowhere and begins to complain that his skin is itchy from the water at the bath house. He demands that someone come to scratch his back. One of Boss Tak’s boys does as he asks but when he lifts the monk’s shirt to get a better scratch, he finds a tattoo on the monks back. The tattoo is a map of Korea with a little dot between the mainland and Jeju island marked as “my hometown”. It is a confirmation of their suspicions all along. The monk is not from India at all. At the police station, Gook Du’s investigation unit talks about the fact that they have yet to find the Creepers body. They have found clothing washed up on the shoreline but still no Creeper. Deep down Gook Du knows that he is still alive and so do we.
At Bong Soon’s house, her parents are having a bit of a fight. Her mother suggests divorce and appears ready to call her bluff. When Bong Soon steps between them to stop the fight, her mother knocks her over. It ends the fight for a moment as both of her parents help her up from the floor. Bong Soon goes to her room and remembers the book that she was supposed to write her experiences in. Its pages are mostly blank and Bong Soon looks at them with regret. She gets a message from Min Hyuk reminding her that they will go on a picnic the next day. She smiles at the thought. The next day Min Hyuk picks her up for their outing and he is stunned by her adorableness. She has to verbally jolt him out of his admiration. Their picnic takes them to the river where they sit on a blanket reading comic books. When she breaks out their lunch, Min Hyuk squeals like a girl because the lunch boxes are so pretty.
As expected, the Creeper is alive. Min Hyuk has become his next target. As he cuts his hair to change his appearance, the Creeper remembers his struggle to climb out of the water after the accident. Jang Hyun wastes no time and soon presents himself at the Ainsoft security desk as a reporter looking for a follow-up interview with the young CEO. A few well placed pieces of information and he is allowed access to the building without an escort. He moves towards the elevators and happens to rub shoulders with Gook Du. For a moment we think he has escaped Gook Du’s notice but Gook Du calls his name and a fight ensues. A hapless female employee moves to exit the opening elevator doors and it is just the shield that Jang Hyun needs. He grabs the woman and holds her ID card to her throat, threatening to cut her if Gook Du advances any further. The elevator doors close and Gook Du tries frantically to reach Min Hyuk. However, Min Hyuk is in a meeting and he swipes away the first call. At Gook Du’s second call, he excuses himself and answers the phone. Once Min Hyuk knows what is happening, he calls for all of the exits of the building to be closed. He doesn’t want Jang Hyun to escape this time.
Min Hyuk finds Bong Soon and Secretary Gong in his office. He has only just asked if she is alright when the PA system squeals and a menacing voice offers to play a game with Min Hyuk. Jang Hyun tells Min Hyuk that he has fifteen minutes to locate him or he will blow up the building. Min Hyuk tells Secretary Gong not to leave Bong Soon alone while the Creepers maniacal laughter echoes through the building. Min Hyuk sets his watch for fifteen minutes and begins his search for the Creeper. He runs to the PA room to find two employees bound and gagged on the floor. He releases them and then turns on the PA. He tells everyone to save whatever they are doing to the server and then power down the computer that they are using and evacuate the building. All the employees begin the process of saving and evacuating while the Creeper moves in the opposite direction like a salmon swimming upstream. Secretary Gong takes Bong Soon out into the hallway so that they too can evacuate but he is knocked unconscious by the Creeper and it looks like Bong Soon gets a face full of chloroform.
Once the building is evacuated, Min Hyuk calls for all of the power to be cut from the building. Now Gook Du, Min Hyuk and the Creeper (carrying Bong Soon’s limp body) are all in the dark. The Creeper pulls out a small flashlight and continues with his plan. Next, we see him chaining Bong Soon to a large pipe. He tries to goad her into displaying her powers and punches her with each taunt. He knocks her out and then whispers that she promised to marry him. He starts a timer counting down and asks her what happens if she doesn’t keep her promise. The answer? “You die”. Meanwhile, Min Hyuk continues to search for the Creeper, not knowing that he has taken Bong Soon. Gook Du finds Secretary Gong unconscious in front of Min Hyuk’s office. He calls Min Hyuk and delivers the news that he didn’t want to hear. The Creeper has Bong Soon. Min Hyuk shouts in frustration and then realizes that they must be on the roof. He races to the top of the building but finds nothing until he notices a door that is chained shut.
Gook Du also searches frantically for Bong Soon and the Creeper. He hears a music box and follows the sound. He finds a black box at the top of a flight of stairs. He carefully picks up the box and then begins to pound on the door. Min Hyuk is doing the same thing. He pounds relentlessly on the door and claws at the chains until his hands are bloodied. He can hear Bong Soon inside. She begs him to leave. He tells her that they should go together. He promises her that he will not leave her alone as he takes one more mighty shove against the door. He falls to the ground and awaits the inevitable. Bong Soon struggles and cries and begs the heavens to “save that person”. Suddenly the room is filled with light and Bong Soon feels a rush of power return to her. She breaks her chains and grabs the bomb. She tears the chained doors from their hinges and throws the bomb as far as she can into the sky. With only seconds left, the bomb explodes in midair. Min Hyuk clutches Bong Soon to his chest as though she were a priceless jewel.
Of course, we knew that the Creeper wasn’t dead but I’m really glad they took this episode to give us a bit of sweetness and light after all of the heavy darkness from the last few episodes. I guess perhaps, Bong Soon didn’t read everything her granny told her to about her powers. Pretty sure she will find some kind of special rule about her power going and coming under certain circumstances. Hey, whatever works!
I’m really happy that the love story is progressing too. They are such a cute couple and they are so easy to ship. I want more fancy lunch boxes and picnic lounging from these two. I’m also looking forward to a real smoocharoo!! No shocked eyeballs. No stiff arms. I want them kissing like they are crazy about each other because they totally are.
